I'm sure most of you will have seen me around, i followed the mass migration from modblog with a lot of my good friends here - i am truly humbled to have been invited to fill this slot - filled before me by a lot of very very talented people. I have to say i'd never seen myself becoming a photoblogger - and for the most part, i don't think i have, it's just sort of crept up on me.
A lot of nights out with a camera have made their way onto my blog (for better or worse), then a couple of trips to Paris and Cambridge and with some recent efforts taken around London pictures have become more central to how i blog.

I'm really not long started out on photography - sure I've had a rubbishy camera for years and years since i was a kid and took holiday snaps, but how long spent actually attempting to capture an image, an interesting moment in time, something with a hook - not very long at all.
I don't know much about photography - I'm still working out the kinks and learning the tricks on my new camera but i will share a private definition of a good photograph - A good photograph to me is something that *works* - something that will get a draw of breath or a nod of recognition as to intent and execution combined. It's something i enjoy striving for - either capturing a precise moment, or by fluke, but mostly translating an image directly from the minds eye to negative or digital.
There has been some positive feed back to my varied efforts so far, so I've decided to keep going, and maybe at Christmas move up in the camera stakes, but for now, i hope you enjoy these pictures, and watch this space.
The photos i post here will try and give a range of what I've enjoyed photographing mostly from over the last year.
I think i first seriously tried to take pictures in Australia a few years ago - but the holiday makers urge over took me and I started snapping wildly. A few decent shots came out of it -

and when that died a friend lent me his very very basic 2mp Cybershot.

started to try and take things more seriously when i picked up a canon A460 - first time i'd spent what money on a camera with a view to a decent spec.
Since Ive had this camera i've tried to become more ambitious - it's what kickstarted the recent picture posts on my blog - i needed somewhere to share my latest attempts and get feedback (luckily mostly positive so far) on how i've been doing

The night i took that shot was when there developed a strange side-line in photographing some friend's nightclubs, first a Burlesque revival.

recently with a trip to central London almost exclusively to take pictures and test the camera zoom and settings - I took some of the pictures I think I'm most attached to. It had been a peculiar day - it was raining then it wasn't, it was cloudy then it wasn't - making the range of pictures I got quite wide from one day.
