February Gallery Show: Whiteorchid
*** I realize now that it was a bad idea to actually replace the photos and not add onto the entry, or make a new entry. If you missed out on the photos that I posted at the beginning of the month, or you would like to see them again, you can check them out at my Flickr account: user name, you guessed it, whiteorchid. That way, you can also see photos that I may not have posted on Tasteful Pixels.***
Well, it has been a couple of weeks since I first made this entry, and I have decided that it is time to mix things up a bit. So, I have replaced all the previous photos with different photos. None of them are really new because I haven't had a chance to take any new photographs recently as it has been very cold here; not picture-taking weather. It is my goal to get down to the riverbank before the end of February so that I can have one more chance to post some new photos for your enjoyment.
The following two photographs are of landscapes in British Columbia, Canada. I absolutely love the mountains. Whenever I am in B.C., I am in complete awe of the ever looming presence of these magnificent natural structures.
This photo was taken during my most recent trip to B.C. It was taken through the car window while we were traveling on the highway between Kelowna and Kamloops.
This photo was taken during a trip to Vancouver for a conference. We drove all the way there. While driving back home in the early morning hours, an amazing fog settled among the mountains. It was breath-taking. I only hope that this photograph captures the beauty of a mountain fog.
The next photo is of a church along the riverbank. I love the beauty of older churches; the way that the steeples reach towards the sky, it's wondrous.

The following photographs are of flowers, which are one of my favourite subjects. I can't take enough photographs of flowers.
This is one of my favourite flower photos. The subject is a rain-dropped daisy in my mother's garden. I always use my mother's flowers as subjects, because I could only hope to have as beautiful a garden as hers.
These flowers also grow in my mother's garden. What type of flower there are, I do not know, but this is a favourite photograph. A copy of it currently hangs in my kitchen.
And that is all folks.
Thank you very much for dropping by. I hope to add/change photos and descriptions one more time before the month passes. So I hope that you will come back around for another visit.

Wonderful job WC!! I really love the first self portrait one, and the wooden model one. I've wanted one of those things for a long time, but haven't found any yet. :/

Great choices!
I am familiar with all these photographs as I follow your photo-blog and your FLICKR notices come to my email.
I appreciate that you created a variety in your first show on TP.
I really love that you put the winter images in and set them at the top of the show. The frozen landscapes and the light that you get that far north make for some breathtaking scenes.
And of course IVAR the terrible is one of your best muses! He just HAD to be in your lovely Gallery Show!
It was nice also to see that you had the courage to bring your self portrait work to your show, I agree with Chica that the first pose is striking in the sunlight. Thanks for mentioning Lotus, as you may rmr she started this very blog.
I also like your B&W face studies as well. And you are right you really don't need makeup.
Congratuations on a fine Gallery Show!

Gorgeous stuff girl! I love the winter ones as well but the flower and the manikin are great. Your portraits are very beautiful but that's because of the subject matter. Wink.
Lovely show! |

What incredible photos! My fave is the one with Ivan sticking his tongue out, but I'm partial to critter pix. ;) Who knew you were so pretty, too! That takes a lot of courage, to post self-portraits. I've tried & mine always turn out sooooo bad.
Thanks for sharing your photos with us & congrats on being invited to the gallery. |

NIce change up!
Glad you decided to make a change up, you have captured some compelling and inspiring landscapes here.
I have only visited British Columbia once and it was a life changing experience! The IRC gramma and her hubby Rolly took us all over and held a party as well for us ( the traveling Americans ) and we even made the newspaper in Fruitvale or Trail BC.
Someday I will convert the video and upload parts of it.
You live in a magical world!
